Almost Got Caught in the Dorm

FaceTime wasn't working for a couple two states apart. Then he told her about Lovense, and a dorm room door opened at exactly the wrong moment.

When my girlfriend and I went off to different colleges in different states, we knew being apart was going to be hard. I was at a university in Oklahoma and she was at the University of Arkansas, so suddenly something as simple as being close to each other wasn't really an option anymore.

We still wanted to stay connected, though, not just emotionally but intimately too. At first we tried being intimate over FaceTime. We figured seeing each other would make the distance feel a little smaller. It was fun, but honestly it wasn't really working for us. We could see each other, but we couldn't really tease each other or interact the way we could when we were actually together. It felt like something was missing.

That's when I told her about Lovense. I explained how I could control the toy remotely and still tease her even though we were hundreds of miles apart. She was immediately on board with the idea. We both thought it would be a fun way to try something new instead of just wishing we were together. And honestly, it ended up being way more fun than we expected.

It gave us a different way to be intimate while we were apart. Instead of sitting on FaceTime wishing we could be together, we had something to actually do, and a way for me to tease her like I would if I was there. It made the distance feel a little less annoying.

Of course, being college students, we also learned that trying to have a private moment in a dorm room comes with some risks. One day, her roommate ended up coming home early from class. Neither of us was expecting it, so the second we heard her come through the door my girlfriend immediately pulled the phone up and tried to look as normal as possible. I turned the toy off right away.

Her roommate just casually said, "Hey." My girlfriend was completely red and embarrassed, but somehow managed to say that she was on the phone with her boyfriend. And that was it. Her roommate didn't think anything of it and went about her business. Meanwhile, I started laughing because the whole situation had gone from intimate to absolutely hilarious in about two seconds. Once we realized everything was fine, my girlfriend and I were both laughing about how close that had been. That moment probably ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the whole experience.

Looking back, Lovense didn't replace actually being together, and that wasn't really what we were trying to do. It just gave us another way to feel connected while we were living in two completely different states and going through two completely different college lives. It became our own little thing. Something that made the distance a little easier and gave us a new way to be playful with each other.

My biggest tip for anyone trying something similar is don't take it too seriously. Try something new, laugh when things get awkward, and find something that works for you as a couple. And if you're using it in a college dorm, maybe make sure you know when your roommate is coming home first. 🙈🙈
