Our community member @Liger found a way to make VRChat interactions feel incredibly real. By connecting Lovense toys to their avatar, every virtual touch translates into actual physical sensation. In the story below, Liger explains his creative setup, and how this technology changed his entire experience.
About Me and My Setup
I'm a Techy. I'm a VR Enthusiast. While limited on resources to freely explore tech in general, I've been fairly creative with what I have readily available.
Over the years, since 2010, my wife and I have gathered a selection of Lovense toys. She has her specific, feminine toys, and I've got my male-focused toys. With this selection we've gathered, I've explored what works, not just for us, but in VR, and VR-ERPing.
While my wife may still enjoy "VR" applications from the perspective of using her desktop computer, I'm in my VR Headset (PC grade VR). Either that's wired to my PC with my Valve Index, or in another room on my Quest 3 (PC-VR over Wifi). Not to forget, I have my Full Body Tracking (arms, legs, feet, hips, and chest tracked, shoutout to SlimeVR!), for many positions and scenarios, mimicking real-life meetups and play.
So...Lovense sex toys in Virtual Reality? How? When? No need to ask why. It's been a vibing thing for years. If you're a visitor to VR, in my case, VRChat, ChilloutVR, and Resonite, you might possibly have bumped into someone wearing one, and they kept quiet.
VR has also expanded what is possible in terms of ERPing. Erotic Role Playing. While many may enjoy the lewd virtual perspective and roleplaying, some go a step further and add in a toy to the mix. Slip on your toy(s), connect them through your Bluetooth-capable Android/iOS device, or popular third-party tools like OSCGoesBrr on your desktop, link your phone to VRChat, and you're a touch away from feeling some good vibes.
What would you say if someone, random (in a trusting environment), were to approach you from behind, and playfully give you some heavy petting below your belt? You felt the vibrations. No need to touch yourself in real life. It just happened.
These are not just vibrating as an "On or Off" state. These are gradual based on proximity/depth of touch. Imagine a narrow, long balloon, aired up and firm. This simulates a "Contact Receiver" in VR, but invisible with no tactile pushback. When you press your finger or hand into the balloon, you're entering the proximity. The more you press into the Contact Receiver, the more intense the vibrations increase. These Contact Receivers, not to forget SPS (similar, special use cases), can be placed anywhere on an avatar's body. Anywhere.
As a joke at first, I have a sphere contact receiver on my avatar's nose. When someone would boop my nose, my Hush (plug) would vibrate. Rather discrete, wouldn't you say? Lovense toys are, down to the core, vibrative haptics.
Toys in Use, and Explored
Personally, I use three Lovense toys. Not joking. On most days, I choose to wear toys, it's generally the two penile toys, Gush 2 and Diamo. Some nights I'll include the Hush 2.
Gush 2 - Shaft vibrator - Kept close to the tip, keeping the vibrating nub under the head, the best I can. With my thigh trackers strapped to my thighs, it helps give the toys a shelf to sit on when I'm not fully aroused. The Gush 2, much like the first Gush, will eventually slide off. While both have straps to keep it in place, the Gush 2's strap is adjustable like a belt, which really helps when removing the Gush/Gush2 and the strap during cleanup; no need to slide the toy off the tip, in turn, more mess is spread around, when it can pop off the shaft directly and keep it clean. "MY" personal downside is due to my manhood size. When I'm hard, I have to loosen the strap a notch or it'll pinch skin when I soften up. When that does happen, I adjust it a notch back down, or it'll just fall off. While the Gush does help keep the Diamo from sliding off...
Diamo - Versatile, used as a cock ring with the larger vibrating bit placed under my sack, sometimes pressing against my perineum, and Hush (later) when I sit or lie down. Originally, I planned to have this for the perineum area, but due to my size, when I'm hard, it's too tight around/past the testicles. Much like the Gush2, this will also eventually slide off when I'm not hard. The Gush 2 however, does help keep it in place.
Hush2 - Plug - While I did start with the smallest of 5 a few years ago, I've upgraded in size, and the vibration feeling is a bit more thumpy-feeling when on low intensities, which I prefer.
For my wife, Dolce and Domi 2 - The Dolce also has two individual motors, similar to the Edge 2, one for inside, one for outside. In her opinion, the best toy we've gotten for her for VR play. She does have other Lovense toys, many we've set up for her to pick from while in VRChat, but the Dolce and Tenera 2, and sometimes the Domi 2 are the most common, followed by the Lush 3.
Contact Receivers: The Virtual Controls for Your Vibing Sensations
Starting with the basics...
Touching the Shaft, from tip to base, would increase the intensity. Touching the tip would be a low rumble, while the base would be a high vibration. Shaft penetrating would do the same.
Testicles/Perineum area activating the Diamo. At first I wasn't sure how best to set this up, and this works. I had to play with the placement of the contact receiver, as just covering the testicles was not enough; I had to expand the area a bit more for the reliability of intended touches.
Hush Plug prop (more info below), either touching the prop in VR, or anal penetration.
Not creative or technical enough? I've explored more unique aspects.
Toys with dual haptics? Edge 2 and Dolce, two motors in one shell, are good examples. Each motor can be linked to different Contact Receivers. No different than two different toys. The reverse can be said, multiple different Contact Receivers could activate one toy motor.
On select avatars, segmented touch areas, such as tails, each segment can ultimately be different intensity, like keys on a piano have higher/lower notes. The tip of the tail might be a low rumble, and the base (spine) would be a high intensity. While exploring this tail aspect, I had to limit activation to just Fingers and Hands only, as Feet or otherwise, while walking through, or standing in, crowds was...wearing down the battery.
In my adventures, I've set up Haptic Templates (Unity application Prefabs) for a quicker and easier setup for any avatar model, including the ladies. Nipple/Boob haptics, Ear/Horn, Butt Cheeks...and I've freely shared these templates online for others to use. I've gone as far as setting up Avatar Base templates, for a more drag, drop, upload immediately level of convenience.
Personal Experiences of Lewd VR Haptics
Many sessions have been had, where I and others have teased each other through the evenings and nights, as we do other casual activities. Something about some toys vibrating against others, such as the Diamo pressed up to my Hush while sitting, has brought additional, varying sensations.
Some players have made me finish without RL touching myself, from start to finish. Either that's by a hand job, or penetration of themselves or myself. Not quick sessions mind you, but it does build up. Tie in the Full Body Tracking for a more immersive standing, lying, or sitting down and thrusting, and mix in any body positions without the concern of the other person's avatar limbs in the way, they just clip through, in some cases some funny position situations.
Full Body Tracking isn't a requirement to enjoy haptic ERPing, many Half-Body tracking users (hands and head tracking only) and Desktop users will adapt with pre-made position or movement avatar/body animations.
I have a bit of an exhibition kink, so lewd group gatherings, meant for ERP casual to full fun, have helped fill that void. Far safer than real-life public or accepting small gatherings. The Gush2, among others, is a nice "touch" when others brush up against my shaft or belly, or intentionally teasing me without the need of myself touching, too.
I may never forget the fun (many sessions) I've had in a VR World named "Rainy Road". While a video of this world would explain far more... A double-decker, RV-like, bus driving through a few environments (mountains, forest, bridges, city scapes). The bus is two floors, three sections from front to back. The top half is mostly a glass-covered dome, with a TV lounge in the back end with a square U-Shaped couch, and the front having a rounded glass dome with a TV player popping out of the floor with bedding laid out on the floor. In between the front and back is a Pillow Fort, with one side having an entrance to crawl through, and the opposite end open to the glass view of the environment rolling by. I've done it solo and with friends in these areas.
To add more fun to the mix. There isn't much around online for Lovense virtual/game Props (five I've found so far). I have the five thus far. With the right configuration, these props can act like toys in VR. Be creative with the situations, much like real life use, but a bit more flexible. It is very possible to set up the/y Max 2 VR prop to interact with my RL Hush 2 haptic, when someone penetrates the Max 2, much like a Portal. The same can be done for the female focused toys, with the Max 2 and the Dolce, and still have room to tease her VR clit and vibrate her Dolce clit haptic motor. Frankly, anything that acts like a vibrative haptic could vibrate.
Future Haptics: My Next Anticipation of Additions?
At this time, the only features I can imagine that would make my experiences a bit more immersive and enjoyable, having a bit more independent haptic feedback to the tip, preferably the underside, of the penis. While the Gush 2 provides a good shaft vibration, I had initially hoped the vibrating nub was its own motor, separate from the main body vibration. I was mistaken, but not lost. A second size of the Diamo would be nice; however, I'm not entirely sure to what degree this would be possible, without other trade-offs, it fits fine over my hard shaft, but too tight if placed between the base and testicles.
