They were not looking for the perfect toy. They simply needed one that would not buzz every time a stranger scanned a tin of beans.

My wife and I once met a couple who were fully immersed in consensual non-monogamy. When they moved away, they left us a parting gift. It was a simple remote-controlled wearable, a straightforward push-to-buzz device. We had a lot of fun taking it out in public, right up until one unforgettable supermarket trip.
